Oliver Drewes

Oliver Drewes advises companies, associations, governments, NGOs and other organisations on regulatory risks and opportunities in a constantly changing political and economic environment. He develops tailor-made strategies to overcome challenges and position change as an integral part of the solution.
With over 25 years of professional experience, including 20 years in the European institutions, Oliver played a crucial role in shaping EU policy. As a spokesperson for the European Commission for the Internal Market and Financial Services and as a member of several Commissioners' cabinets, he covered a wide range of topics. During the 2008 financial crisis, he was part of the EU team that shaped the future regulatory landscape. As a close advisor to EU Commissioners, he led high-level political and regulatory dialogues with key EU trading partners, including China, Japan and the US. Most recently, he served as Senior Executive Director for Public Affairs at a leading international strategy consulting firm for communications and was a member of the Geopolitical Advisory Global Council.
Oliver's in-depth understanding of EU policy and regulatory processes, combined with his knowledge of political priorities in Brussels and EU member states, enables him to develop impactful policy messages and communicate them effectively to businesses, governments, legislators and regulators. He has a proven track record as a negotiator, combining strategic insight into economic and political priorities with a keen eye for detail and a focus on results.
Oliver holds a degree in law and political science as well as a postgraduate LL.M. in European Legal Studies. In addition to his native languages German and Dutch, he is fluent in English and French.
He is married, has two children and lives with his wife in Brussels.
